” I remember being 13 years old and meeting famous rock photographer (The Late) Ross Marino. He had this pass around his neck that said ” PHOTO – All Access”. I said ” Hey Ross…How do I get one of those?” and his reply with a smirk was “You have to have a magazine assignment kid..!!”. So I walked away determined that one day I would wear the Pass of a Rock Photographer.”   …Gino Carlini

.Gino Carlini may technically have started his professional concert photography career at age 17 with the band Tesla, but that is certainly not where his story begins. For his 13th birthday, Gino was given his first camera as a gift & that is when his lifelong passion for photography began. It is fair to say that around the same time, his passion & love for music was growing as well. It was as if the two were intertwined, which, in fact, they would become. From the moment he had that camera in his hands, he knew he wanted to be a music photographer. The fact that his older sister was a local radio DJ helped Gino obtain access to concerts that most teenagers never see, let alone learn their craft in. He honed his skills over the next several years shooting many artists & bands for several music outlets, Artists including David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, KISS, Def Leppard & INXS. These were all big names at that time & it was a amazing way to start a career.

From 1987 to 1991, Gino spent all of his time hopping between world tours with bands like Tesla, Testament, and many others doing their tour photography. Gino has been published in many reputable & respected music magazines including Burrn, Rolling Stone, Kerrang, RIP, Metal Hammer, as well as being published in tour books, Cd booklets,Posters, and music books.

In 1992, Gino decided to change things up a bit & moved to New York city. Continuing to work in the music industry. In 1997 he was asked to work as still photographer on the indie film “Corrupted Minds (aka Detroit)”.

In 2001, Gino was asked to once again join the band Tesla on the road for their much anticipated reunion tour. Not only did Gino shoot all their tour photography, but he designed the CD artwork & promotional poster.

Gino began to remember all the beautiful architecture that he had seen in his travel throughout the years & moved into the field of architectural photography. As an architecture photographer he has been featured in many magazines such as Home & Design and Detroit home. During the years of 2004 to 2007, Gino was the Orlando staff photographer for “From House To Home” magazine. In 2007, Gino returned to Detroit to be a part of the budding film industry that had come to the motorcity and he began shooting stills for feature films once again. He has worked on several Indie films. He is also continuing with his first love, music photography. He is a seasoned veteran who has an amazing eye for this and he will certainly bring much excitement back to music photography in the years to come.

“Being a Photographer for more then half my life has been an amazing experience. Ive traveled the world and met all kinds of interesting people….Ive photographed a world that I see in light and shadows”. ..
